Barbara Franc is an animal sculptor with a difference. Many of her works use recycled everyday materials and wire to create elaborate sculptures of many creatures from across the animal kingdom. By organically building up from a well thought through armature, she is able to capture a feeling of movement and life that would otherwise be impossible from a less fluid construction.
In Barbara's own words:
Working with recycled and found objects makes me accept the individual qualities of the various materials they are made of, I have to adapt to them, not the other way round. It’s a bit like assembling a jigsaw with no picture and all the pieces keep changing shape before I can get them under some sort of control!
Barbara will be part of our Summer exhibition but her smaller pieces, which featured at our private view, have already proved extremely popular. Keep an eye out for more workin the coming months.
